Gary Seidman and his team represent my brands and products with the utmost professionalism, honesty, integrity and aggressiveness. From HQ calls to store level implementation, they are extremely dedicated, focused and attentive to Cento’s business goals and objectives. They know how to get the job done, producing positive results for Cento. SFB relationships and leadership in the SE is second to none. In my 16 years working for Cento, I have never encountered a broker that I would trust more with my business.
Twenty years ago Hormel Foods was looking for a Specialty Broker to represent us in Florida Market handling among other accounts, Publix and Winn Dixie. We saw an article on a Broker just starting his business hosting a Table Top for his Manufactures and Retail Customers in a Pool Hall. He put a sheet of plywood on top of the pool tables and held his first table top. This creativity continues today 20 years later. Seidman Food Brokerage, Inc. has done an excellent job in representing Hormel/MegaMex. Their Retail Team does a great job in selling off shelf displays and shippers. The Account Executives have excellent follow through and get the job done. Seidman Food Brokers, Inc. has grown to be one of the most respected brokers in the Southeast. Hormel has enjoyed this partnership for the past 20 years.
Two words come to mind when I think of Seidman Food Brokers: integrity and efficiency. Far more than five years now, they have been our feet-on-the-street making HQ calls, cutting in new items and maintaining shelf placement as well as cross merchandising our products into multiple depts. to gain incremental sales. What more could one ask for, they’re getting the job done.
Over the past 5 years I have worked very closely with everyone at Seidman Food Brokerage. In that time we accomplished many great things at Publix, Winn Dixie, Doris Markets and Laurenzo Markets at both the headquarter and retail level. This was due to the commitment/effort I got on all levels to do the best job possible.
This past year we have transitioned from Eddie Hudon to Victor Rancel as our Account Executive. I am pleased to report that our line is in excellent hands and Victor has done a tremendous job taking over for Eddie who I will always consider as one of the best in the business. To me that is very important as the Colavita line is very extensive and the account executive sets the tone for everything we do.
In addition, Seidman has a very dedicated team of retail professionals under the direction of Mike Seithel who work the stores every day. They all understand how their retailers operate and they work hard to make the stores look the best they can. They are a pleasure to work with and they all take a great deal of pride in their work.
Finally, I would be remiss if I did not give Mike Bloom credit for all he does administratively at Seidman. Mike wears many hats and he knows how to solve problems, resolve deduction issues, and go the extra mile on all projects. He is a tremendous asset to Seidman Food Brokerage and I appreciate all he does for my line.
In my opinion, for a small growing brand or even a mature brand, Seidman Food Brokers makes tremendous sense in the Southeast Markets. The resources and knowledge base are very strong which can successfully springboard a brand to broad distribution quickly and efficiently. You can avoid a lot of pitfalls in the business and prevent some costly errors and wasted time due to Gary Seidman and his associate’s advice. I have been using Seidman Food Brokers for 5 years and they have successfully launched a number of brands for me.
Metzger Specialty Brands / Tillen Farms has been represented by Seidman Food Brokerage for over a decade. They have an active presence in specialty, grocery and the health food trade. The company maintains a strong commitment to their principals and is focused on the retail trade. When we gained distribution with a leading SE retailer, we looked for secondary placement with our products into their 150 freestanding liquor shops. Within 60 days, Seidman’s team of 7 reps managed to secure placement in over 60% of the shops. In addition, Seidman takes an active presence at Florida’s SOHO EXPO, catering to the natural trade in the Southeast. While any principal needs to maintain an active presence with their Seidman Account Manager, I would encourage anyone looking for representation in the Southeast to give Seidman serious consideration.
I appointed Seidman Food Brokerage over 13 years ago to represent Kineret when I was National Sales Mgr. of Hain Celestial, Kineret Frozen Foods Division. They were in their early years of their business, but I immediately felt totally comfortable with their representation to the retailers, large and small in the Florida market. Not only did they have great relationships with the distributors and buyers, but they were unique in that they had this “retail” division that had hands and feet in the stores!
Today, as National Sales Manager of Walden Farms, Inc., I continue to count on Seidman Food Brokerage as one of my top brokers in the country. They’ve grown with the business, even as the business has changed over the years. Their relationships that they’ve built over this time with the people at the distributors who touch our products; from the Account Managers, customer service people, Category Managers, to the people out in the field, has only gotten stronger.
Added to this is the element of their growth with the retail end of the business. Their ability to call on the individual retail stores, to actually ordering product for the shelves and work hand in hand with the distributors’ retail team is what sets them apart from the other food brokers.
